We make gardening approachable through real-world guidance, hands-on experiences, and a supportive community of fellow growers.
You don’t have to know everything to grow something.
Why THE SEED LOCAL Exists
Getting started can feel like the hardest part.
Many people want to grow their own food, spend more time outdoors, or create something meaningful with their family and friends, but they aren't sure where to begin. A lot of gardening advice can feel overwhelming, full of jargon, rules, and pressure to get everything right the first time.
We started THE SEED LOCAL to make gardening feel more doable.
Gardening is forgiving. It rewards curiosity, patience, and showing up. There’s always more to learn, which is part of what makes it so enjoyable. We believe everyone can grow something, regardless of experience level, space, or starting point.
What We Do

The best way to learn is by growing. Every gardener starts somewhere.

Where We Are
THE SEED LOCAL is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Our workshops and in-person experiences begin here, serving Nashville and the surrounding Tennessee area. At the same time, our educational content, resources, and community are designed for anyone, anywhere.
We’re building outward from Nashville one garden, one grower, and one connection at a time.

I started THE SEED LOCAL because I know how hard it is to begin when you feel like you have so much to learn.
I definitely didn’t know everything when I started, and honestly, I’m still learning all the time. Over the years, I realized that’s part of the point—and one of the things that makes gardening so rewarding. Gardening is forgiving. It works best when you figure out what works for you, your space, and your lifestyle.
What I didn’t expect was how much gardening would connect me with other people.
It introduced me to neighbors I may never have met otherwise, fellow growers who became friends, and communities built around sharing knowledge, seeds, meals, and stories. It opened doors to new experiences and taught me lessons in patience, optimism, and connection that extend far beyond the garden.
THE SEED LOCAL was created to help more people experience those same rewards and to remind people that you don’t have to know everything to grow something.
